Gayland Bender

I started drumming early in life on kitchen tables, pots, and pans, or anything that made a noise like a drum. My first eight grades in a country school did not offer any music opportunities. Entering high school allowed me to join the school band and play real drums. I soon joined a local rock-n-roll band and played dance halls at the age of 16 continuing throughout college and into adult life. I have played in marching bands, concert bands, big bands, polka bands and dance bands. Now I am enjoying performing with a Dixieland band and learning a new repertoire of tunes.
