DIRECTOR/TRUMPET

Warren Wildes

Warren last played trumpet in high school 25 years before he was persuaded to join a small band in his church. As he had earlier fallen in love with Dixieland music in college, he got the band into Dixieland. In a couple of years, 3 excellent young but experienced Dixieland players joined the band and the Lake Johanna Ramblers were born. Three exciting years followed! Warren was hooked but the young guys all left for careers of professional musical jobs so Warren put his horn away at age 55. But his love for the music remained with Jazz Festival visits over the years. So after another 25-year trumpet sabbatical, Warren discovered that several of his musical friends at Centennial United Methodist church could be the players needed for another Dixieland Band and in 2014 the Centennial Stompers were born!
